“Blessed are those who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing”

I experimented with cutting holes in the pallets and sewing through them. Therefore the main function of pallets, to support heavy weight, is removed.
”Pallets” 2011, my current work involves drilling holes into pallets and literally sewing into them with colourful thread. For my degree show I plan to make one large sculpture out of many pallets which will be piled up, lent against walls, and placed on the floor.
Through this work I try to question the feminine qualities generally associated with thread and sewing. The man made and mass produced qualities of the pallets juxtapose with the delicacy of the thread.
The function of the pallets, objects which are used to shift heavy goods from place to place, is changed making them into desirable art objects.
Untitled, Installation (2011), these photos are from an installation featuring early sculptures where I experimented with combining thread and found objects. This work led me to using pallets as a preferred medium.
Wool Installations
These installations were created by wrapping wool back and forth across a wall. The time consuming repetitive, process is evident in the final piece. The installations are reminiscent of a brushstrokes or drawings.
